CalHHS Publishes New IT and Data Strategic Plan

On March 5th, CalHHS released its IT and Data Strategic Plan with a detailed roadmap outlining how the agency plans to drive cross-department collaboration with data and technology to achieve equitable health solutions. With a vision of enhancing services for all Californians, CalHHS is developing eight foundational approaches to enable the strategic plan to meet its objectives, which include person-centered strategies, technology integration, and data-driven insights. (CalHHS, 3/5)

ONC and CalHHS Collaborate on TEFCA and DxF Data Exchange

Dr. Micky Tripathi, National Coordinator for Health IT, and Marko Mijic, Undersecretary of CalHHS, partnered to examine how California can leverage the federal Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) to support California’s Data Exchange Framework (DxF) initiative. While the DxF goes beyond TEFCA to also integrate human services data, participating in TEFCA is a start to help California organizations meet their DxF clinical data exchange obligations. Following the recent Change Healthcare cyberattack, reports indicate that insurers experienced a 15 to 20% reduction in claims data coming from providers, but submission trends are stabilizing. Community Care Hubs for Data Exchange with CBOs

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) examines how community care hubs (CCHs) can be leveraged to support community-based organizations (CBOs) in contracting with health care payers by securely collecting, analyzing, and exchanging data.
