CMS Announces $50 Billion in Awards to Strengthen Rural Health in All 50 States

CMS announced that all 50 states will receive funding from the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) starting in 2026 to modernize care, expand health care access, strengthen rural health workforces, and support innovative delivery models in rural communities across the United States. California is slated to receive approximately $233.6 million in first-year funding to support these rural health transformation efforts. (CMS, 12/29/25)
