Community Sandbox Now Supports Connections to California United Ways 211 Enhanced Social Care Referrals

Connecting for Better Health (C4BH) is proud to announce that United Ways of California and Orange County United Way are partnering with C4BH’s Community Sandbox to streamline referrals for housing services for United Ways 211 partner community-based organizations (CBO), county government agencies, and health care service organizations in Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and 29 other counties.

Referral partners can use the Community Sandbox’s real-world testing capabilities to learn, develop, and test their  data payloads and connection to United Ways of California’s Data Exchange Gateway, which routes referrals to Orange County United Way’s GetHelpOC care coordination system. This includes the ability to receive immediate feedback and refine referral data payloads containing client care data to meet requirements for onboarding with United Ways’ integrated technology to engage in enhanced social care referrals for housing needs.

C4BH’s Community Sandbox is a welcome tool to help United Ways of California simplify and accelerate the participation of other organizations with our United Ways CA 211 data exchange gateway service, which we are deploying to serve Californians in 32 counties covering 18 million residents. This makes it easier for the current and future local partners of our 13 United Ways operating 211 programs—over 4,000 CBO partners, over 100 county agencies, over 150 hospitals, and hundreds of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs)—to share enhanced social care data across diverse systems. This results in better provable outcomes for hundreds of thousands of CBO clients who receive housing, food, transportation, and other social services coordinated by United Way.

If you’re a United Ways 211 referral partner in Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties, log into the Community Sandbox and explore the “United Ways 211 Enhanced Social Care Referrals: Housing” content available across the self-serve testing tools to fast-track the onboarding process. Please contact DataExchangeGateway@unitedwaysca.org for more information about integrating with United Ways of California’s Data Exchange Gateway.
