$20 Million Saved with HIE in Maryland VBC Program

Maryland’s Episode Quality Improvement Program (EQIP) highlights how coordinated data sharing among health agencies, hospitals, and clinicians supported by health information exchange (HIE) can drive successful value-based care (VBC).  With the the state-designated HIE, Chesapeake Regional Information System for our Patients (CRISP), serving as the prerequisite technical infrastructure for coordination and performance tracking, EQIP saved $20 million in its first year with incentives for physicians to receive shared savings based on performance metrics. (Health Care Business Today, 2/24)
