AB 133 Health Omnibus Trailer Bill
Signed into law on July 27, AB133 calls for providers and health plans to share data with each other by 2024 and for the state to create a framework for that exchange of information.

This bill would ensure the state leads on health IT efforts, ensure the state matches valuable federal dollars, and insist on resource sharing — but could go further to build necessary statewide infrastructure, and ensure universal participation.
Governor Newsom’s 2021-22 California State Budget Proposal
As part of his proposed 2021-22 state budget, Governor Newsom prioritized creating a Center for Data Insights and Innovation within the state Department of Health and Human Services — which would be charged with laying the groundwork for, and overseeing, a statewide HIE network.
